OK, here’s the thing: I’ve been pondering the simply massive amount of work needed to construct my proposed database of resources that Musos can use to improve their lot in life and I’m terrified. However, last night (about 3am) I got the idea to outsource the assessment and maintainance aspects of the database - by making it a wiki!
So, I guess I need a wiki to start proceedings. I can use the free software that powers Wikipedia.
I would also like to be able to rate the services within the Wiki, so readers get the feeling of whether the service is considered any good by their peers … I can’t see any evidence of this in the Wikipedia software, but I haven’t played with that from the inside yet.
Next issue: I could use a free wiki - but then the (I expect significant) revenue would go to a third party … and it’s part of my third-leg strategy to own it. But hosting the wiki on its own could cost a lot more than it would generate at first. Solution - set it up on my existing site and port it over when it becomes significant …
So: immediate goal - set up and play with wiki software on my blog site …
